About The Kettle

Strolling down Highland Avenue in Manhattan Beach, one might notice the comforting glow emanating from a corner establishment. That's The Kettle—a sanctuary of hearty American eats that serves patrons around the clock. Here, diners are treated to the kind of low-key ambiance that's both charmingly nostalgia-inducing and refreshingly approachable. It's not just a restaurant; it's an ode to classic diner vibes, complete with inviting patio seating where the gentle ocean breeze often joins in for a meal.

The menu at The Kettle beckons with an array of dishes that cater to every craving imaginable. From the moment it opens, 24-hour service ensures that whether it's sunrise or the depth of night, there's always something delicious brewing. Breakfast lovers might revel in the extensive selection of morning staples like fluffy pancakes, eggs cooked to excellence, and, of course, bacon crisped just right. When afternoon hunger strikes, the lineup of sandwiches and burgers offers irresistible options. The Kettle’s patty melt comes highly recommended, a juicy manifestation of culinary simplicity perfected between slices of toasted bread.

Upon gracing the evening hours, the focus shifts subtly to heartier selections. Steaks, grilled to preference, and chicken dishes are prepared with the kind of care one might expect from a place that has made comfort its forte. Customers are also fond of the clam chowder, often praised for its creamy texture and savory depth. And for those whose hearts yearn for a sweet conclusion, a traditional selection of pies rarely disappoints.

Location-wise, The Kettle holds a prime spot at 1138 Highland Ave, making it a central hub for locals and visitors alike. It's the kind of place that fosters regulars who nod familiarly to the staff and visitors who leave with a newfound favorite noted down for future visits. Around town, word about The Kettle is unpretentious yet enthusiastic. Online reviews echo a frequent appreciation for its ever-hospitable service, where smiles accompany every plate, and patrons often mention that the food tastes like ‘home’—a testament to both its simplicity and warmth.

The Kettle is a South Bay institution.. with an amazing menu, great food, and late night hours that are pretty rare in these parts. They are still open all night on weekends! The food here is very well done with burgers, salads, steaks, great pasta dishes, and tons of appetizers and treats for everyone. The panko chicken tenders are a favorite, grilled chicken club, house burger.. you really can't go wrong. Think upscale diner where you can get anything from a quick snack to a full meal and they have you covered for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night. Extremely good, and equally popular The Kettle is a locals' favorite and it is easy to see why.

Coworkers and I flew into LAX for work on a Monday and needed to refuel before driving to our destination.. Two in the group had enjoyed The Kettle on prior visits and this was my first time.. It was a great experience!! Nestled into historic Manhattan Beach, The Kettle offers a wide variety of great eats.. Breakfast all day, supper items starting at 11a, and renowned muffins for the win!! I enjoyed a coffee cake muffin as an appetizer.. I mean, I'm down for something savory and sweet before the meal and this muffin delivered!! Served warm, lightly iced, and with softened butter on the side, I could have just ended my experience there, but wait, there's more.. I opted in to enjoy their red wine braised pot roast, served with red skinned mashed potatoes.. I enjoyed the mixed greens salad with balsamic vinegarette dressing on the side.. Everything, and I mean everything about the pot roast, potatoes, and salad were enjoyable.. The salad was delivered crisp, cold, and with fresh ingredients.. The potatoes were amply portioned and mashed with skins on, which is my preference.. But, let's talk about the roast, shall we?? This is among the very best pot roast experiences I've had in a restaurant setting.. The roast was well shredded and the red wine braise and resulting gravy was decadent.. I was wildly satisfied with my menu selection.. I'm including a few other pictures of items enjoyed at our table by my colleagues, too.. This included a breakfast offering, the garlic cheese fries, and a banana nut muffin.. The atmosphere was on point, Jonathan's table service was outstanding, and the food certainly cemented my desire to return again in the future.. If you find yourself in Manhattan Beach and hungry, I strongly recommend you give The Kettle a try!!

Amazing banana nut pancakes! Good coffee as well. Perfect diner-like experience. Shout-out to Stephanie for her captivating smile and attentive service. Reasonably priced esp. given the location and quality of food. Definitely coming back on future visits.

A Manhattan Beach Classic: The Kettle Located just a few blocks up from the pier on Highland, The Kettle has been a personal favorite since I was a kid. It’s one of the rare spots in downtown MB where you can still get a great meal late into the night. If you’re heading in, ask for Monica—she’s our favorite and provides amazing service. My go-to order with Kristina never misses: The Soups: Both the Tortilla and Onion soups are fantastic (and they come with those iconic, delicious muffins). The Mains: You can't go wrong with their Wedge Salad and a classic burger. Whether it’s a nostalgic dinner or a late-night craving, this place is always on our list.

Still one of my favorite breakfast spots. Always easy to get a table and the service is always quick. This spot has one of the best views, you can see the beach while sitting on the patio.

I ordered a Reuben sandwich. It was outstanding. I was amazed as to how large it was and how well balanced the ingredients were that were used to make the sandwich. Sides offered with the sandwich included a French onion soup that was also delicious. The servers were friendly and helpful. The most amazing thing was how reasonably they priced their food.
